NAICS Classification.

Introduction.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is a six digit classification system that covers 20 industry sectors and 1,170 industries. NAICS is designed to eventually replace the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. The first two digits are the sector, the third digit is the subsector, the fourth is the industry group, the fifth is the NAICS industry group, and the sixth is the national industry. If you would like more information on NAICS contact the U.S. Bureau of the Census at : http://www.census.gov/naics.htm

U.S. Business Reporter will continue to provide the SIC system and eventually include the NAICS as well. As a result, U.S. Business Reporter will be abandoning its proprietary PSIC classification system which is very similar to NAICS. Eventually, subscribers to U.S. Business Reporter will be given the option to search either by SIC or NAICS. We are currently culling information together and entering the information to our databases. You will eventually see the SIC and NAICS on all information provided including market share reports, industry statstics, company profiles, and general searches.
